Dru Blumensheid (aka BUMESI) is an American-Australian fashion designer currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Istituto Marangoni in Milan. Her practice focuses on womenswear, bespoke tailoring, outerwear, and wearable art, shaped by a multidisciplinary background in photography, film, sculpture, and performance art.

Her work draws from a diverse cultural foundation influenced by 1990s grunge and industrial music, classical ballet training, and early exposure to Japanese aesthetics. Having lived in seven cities across the globe, she incorporates her personal experiences and international travel into her design practice, informing a distinctly cross-cultural perspective. She holds a BFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Her approach explores the balance between structure and fluidity, precision and disruption—translating conceptual narratives into refined garments with a strong emphasis on construction, materiality, and silhouette. Combining artisanal craftsmanship with a production-minded mindset, she develops pieces that function as both elevated products and expressive, wearable forms.

Her work has been presented across international cultural and fashion platforms, including the Queens Museum, Paris Fashion Week, Afropunk, South by Southwest, Vorspeil, World Trade Center, Rockefeller Foundation and the Museum of Old and New Art . Her films have been featured by ShowStudio and selected for festivals such as the Harlem Film Festival and the Mexico City Fashion Film Festival.
